John Hamlin

Director, General Manager

John Hamlin joined Army Fleet Support (AFS), LLC in November 2003 as part of the contract transition team and has served at the Director level in several capacities.  As the Director, Operations and Administration he oversaw the Human Resources, Information Technology Support, and Communications Departments and was responsible for all AFS staff integration.  He served as the interim Director for Finance and Accounting for five months with additional responsibility for Internal Compliance and Auditing.  Most recently Mr. Hamlin served as the Director of Business and Contracts/Deputy General Manager with primary responsibility for contract management as well as business development.  On September 17, 2007, he assumed the position of AFS General Manager and continues to guide the company’s day-to-day operations.

Mr. Hamlin is a retired Army aviator with over 20 years experience in aviation operations and logistics.  He served in command and staff roles from the platoon level to the joint duty level at the Pentagon.  He commanded 4 aviation organizations:  HHT 2nd Squadron 17th Cavalry, 101st
Airborne Division (Air Assault); C Company 503rd Assault Helicopter Battalion, 3rd Armored Division; 308th Attack Helicopter Battalion, 3rd Armored Division; and lastly 2nd Squadron 17th Cavalry, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm.  His last Army assignment was in the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense for Force Modernization and Personnel, Washington, DC.  He retired from active duty in 1995 and has served in a number of senior management positions in manufacturing, retail sales and operations, and banking prior to joining AFS.  He holds a Bachelor Degree from the United States Military Academy in civil engineering and a Masters Degree from the University of Southern California in systems management.  He is a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Society for Human Resource Managers, Army Aviation Association of America and Association of the United States Army.  He is married to Carol Brewer Hamlin and resides in Dothan, AL.
